The Three Steps of a Biomechanical Assessment

Full History Check

To begin the process, our team begins a full and frank history check. This history check will explore the patient's medical history, check the nature of the pain – ache, sharp pain, constant or reoccurring – along with accessing the patient's current and historic level of activity and any previous injuries and/or surgeries.

Biomechanical Assessment

A biomechanical assessment is a battery of different tests aimed at accessing a person’s lower limb balance, strength, range of motion, flexibility, and quality of motion.
This range of tests generates a wealth of rich data which is then used to determine if an abnormality in the biomechanical function of the foot is contributing to a person’s pain.

Gait Analysis

This is a test based on observing how a person walks. This accesses the patient’s gait pattern which can be analysed for abnormalities that could be contributing to the patient’s discomfort.
